How to Make Channa Masala

Channa masala is a North Indian dish made with chick peas blended in onion tomato curry.It usually has thick dark gravy.

Its rich in flavours and spices . It tastes so yummy that you will want to have it more often.

You can have it with different breads like roti , tandori roti , naan etc.

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2-3 cup onion paste
  • 3 tbsp garlic,ginger and green chilly paste
  • 2-3 cup tomato paste
  • 2 whole dried red chillies
  • 2 green cardamon pods
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp kashmiri red chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • salt to taste
  • 3 cups boiled chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 1/2 tsp kasoori methi
  • corriander for garnish

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Put pot on flame . Add oil . Heat it over medium-low heat.

Step 2

Once oil is heated properly , add bay leaf , cloves,red chilly and cardoman.

Step 3

Saute it properly . Add ginger garlic green chilly paste.

Step 4

Once it is golden brown, add onion paste.

Step 5

Add salt as per taste.Also add kasturi methi Saute it well till it turns golden brown.

Step 6

Add tomato paste. Once it is fried properly add turmeric powder , red chilly powder , corriander powder , garam masala and channa masala.

Step 7

 Add boiled chick peas, cover it with lid for 5-10 min.

 

Step 8

Add little bit of water as per your requirement.Boil it for 2-3 min.Garnish it with corriander.
